Privacy policy

1. General provisions
1.1. This Privacy policy defines the procedure for collection, processing, storage, and protection of personal data of users of the online service “Russian Dissertation Library” (hereinafter the “Site”, the “Service”).
1.2. The personal-data operator is the person administering the Site under the name Russian Dissertation Library (Disscat). Contact email: disscatcom@gmail.com. The Operator’s details are published in the current edition of this Policy as they become available.
1.3. Personal data are processed in accordance with this Policy and the legislation of the Russian Federation, including Federal Law No. 152-FZ of 27 July 2006 “On Personal Data”.
1.4. By using the Site, the user confirms that they have read this Policy. In case of disagreement the user must stop using the Site.
1.5. Use of the Site is also governed by the User agreement.
2. Data processed
2.1. Browsing the catalog does not require registration.
2.2. Any visit to the Site may involve processing of technical data: IP address, date and time of the request, addresses of requested pages, browser and device type, network information, and cookies necessary for the Site to function.
2.3. When ordering the document search and electronic delivery service, the user provides an email address and the information needed to fulfil the order: an identifier or bibliographic description of the work, a contact for delivering the result, and payment status.
2.4. The Operator does not request passwords, SMS confirmation codes, or full bank-card details. Where such information is needed for payment, the user enters it with the payment provider.
2.5. The Operator does not verify the accuracy of data that the user provides themselves. The user warrants that the data are accurate.
3. Purposes of processing
Personal data are processed in order to:
- provide access to the catalog;
- fulfil an order for document search and electronic delivery;
- communicate with the user, including replies to support requests;
- process payment through a payment provider;
- maintain the security of the Site and prevent abuse;
- improve the Site;
- comply with legal requirements.
4. Legal bases for processing
Processing is carried out on the basis of the user’s consent, the need to perform a contract (an order for the service), compliance with legal requirements, and other lawful grounds provided for by applicable law.
5. Disclosure to third parties
5.1. The Operator does not sell users’ personal data.
5.2. Data may be disclosed to the extent necessary for the Site to operate: to the payment provider, hosting and other technical contractors, and persons engaged to fulfil an order for document search and delivery.
5.3. Disclosure to public authorities is made only in the cases and in the manner provided for by law.
6. Payment data
6.1. Payment for the service may be processed by a third-party payment provider.
6.2. The Operator does not store users’ full bank-card details unless the payment infrastructure in use requires otherwise.
7. Storage and protection
7.1. Data are stored for as long as needed for the purposes of processing, or for the period established by law.
7.2. The Operator takes reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data against loss, alteration, disclosure, and unauthorised access.
7.3. After the purposes of processing have been achieved, data are deleted or anonymised unless further storage is required by law.
8. User rights
8.1. The user may request access to their personal data, their rectification or deletion, and may exercise other rights provided for by personal-data legislation.

9. Changes to this Policy
9.1. The Operator may amend this Policy in connection with changes in legislation, the composition of the services, or the manner of data processing.
9.2. The current edition is published on the Site at https://en.disscat.com/privacy-policy and takes effect upon posting, unless a later date is stated in the new edition.
